FUFA clears referees’ arrears, remuneration increased starting 2016

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has confirmed that referees’ arrears from the past three years have now been cleared.

The communication was made by the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo at the weekly press conference in Mengo that was also used to hand over basic equipment that included badges, whistles and cards to National referees.

‘We are delighted that FUFA has received the funds from our partners Azam TV to help us settled all arrears of the referees’. Said FUFA President.

He added ‘There was a lot of tension, allegations and pressure but we would like to thank the new FUFA Super League Board Limited for the commendable work done in a short period’

The FUFA President also reiterated the General Assembly’s approval of increasing the referees remuneration from 70,000/- to 150,000/- per referee at each match starting January 2016.

‘We have cleared all arrears up to the end of last season. we are as current as this season’ The FUFA President further said.

Magogo also informed the media that the changes in the refereeing department are aimed at improving the profession for better results.

The referees have been categorized as International (FFA Badge holders), National( 100 referees) and Regional (to officiate matches) in the eight FUFA regions-Western, Buganda, Kampala, Eastern, Northern, West Nile, North East and Kitara.
