The FUFA Drum 2019: Acholi holds Bukedi to seal semi-final slot

 Quarter finals – Match Day 6 Results:

• Acholi 1-1 Bukedi
• Buganda 1-0 Tooro

Acholi province is through to the semi-finals of the 2019 FUFA Drum Tournament.

A late equalizer from Isaac Otto helped Acholi share the spoils with Bukedi at the Pece War Memorial Stadium in Gulu.

Bukedi had taken the lead through Ibra Nsimbe’s 12^th opener.

The man of the match was the goalkeeper for Bukedi, Patrick Wafula.

 

Meanwhile, at the Akii Bua Stadium in Lira, Buganda registered their first win during the new format of the quarter finals, beating Tooro.

The defending champions had lost back to back to Acholi (1-0) and against Bukedi 4-2 to bow out.

Paul Ssekulima netted the lone strike on the evening. Buganda holding midfielder Ronald Ssekiganda, who turns out Buganda regional club Busula was named man of the match, earning Shs 100,000 and a plaque.

Friday shall be a rest day and the semi-finals will be played over two days, tomorrow (Saturday) and the subsequent day.

Monday is another day with the grand climax coming up on Tuesday, 10^th December 2019.

The theme of the tournament is “Celebrating Our Ancestry”.
