Buganda and Lango Provinces have confirmed their squads ahead of The FUFA Drum opening match at Bishop’s SS Ground in Mukono on Saturday, March 30th, 2019.
Cup holders Buganda released a 23-man squad that has the duo of StarTimes Uganda Premier League leading scorers Juma Balinya (Police FC) and Bashir Mutanda (SC Villa) who are expected to make their debut on Match Day 1.
Buganda head coach Alex Isabirye retained most of the players from the winning team of the 1st edition. He also included a few new faces- Halid Lwaliwa (Vipers SC), Dennis Lubowa (Kyetume FC), Ivan Serubiri (Free Stars FC) and Rahumatah Kagimu (Seeta United FC).
Lango Province in good spirits
KCCA FC captain Awany Timothy and his clubmates Allan Okello with Achai Harbert are some of the big names in the Lango squad that is handled by former Uganda Cranes skipper David Obua.
Buganda lost to Lango 3-1 on the same ground in last season’s group stage.
The match will kick off at 4pm and the Katikkiro of Buganda Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga is expected to be the Chief Guest.
