FUFA Drum 2024/25 Qualifiers: Dates, venues for return leg fixtures confirmed as provinces battle for group stage spots

FUFA has confirmed the dates and venues for the return-leg fixtures of the 2024/25 FUFA Drum qualifiers.

These crucial matches will determine the final set of teams progressing to the group stages, with the aggregate winners from each tie securing qualification.

First-Leg Recap: Kampala, Ankole, Bunyoro and Bugisu in Command

The FUFA Drum’s fifth edition kicked off with intense first-leg encounters on 22nd and 23rd February 2025, with Kampala, Ankole, and Bunyoro Provinces securing crucial victories while Bugisu secured a 2-1 win over Karamoja province in the first qualification match that was played in August 2024 in Mbale.

Road to the Group Stages

The qualification phase, which started in August 2024, saw Bugisu Province claim a 2-1 first-leg win over Karamoja. The return legs will determine which four teams join already-qualified provinces:

Buganda
Lango (Defending champions)
West Nile
Busoga
Kigezi
Teso
Tooro
Acholi

Since its inception, the FUFA Drum has crowned multiple champions, including Buganda (2018), Acholi (2019), West Nile (2022) and Lango (2023).

The tournament, sponsored by Nile Special, MTN Uganda and Nivana Uganda continues to celebrate Uganda’s diverse cultural heritage through football.

All eyes now turn to the return legs as provinces fight for a place in the next stage of Uganda’s biggest cultural football showpiece.
