FUFA Drum Tournament (Official Opening Match):
- Busoga 3-0 Bugisu
Busoga Province has won the opening match of the 2018 FUFA Drum tournament.
Busoga edged Bugisu 3-0 during the official opening match of the tournament at the Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe, Jinja on Saturday.
Hamis Tibita gave the home side the lead on 12 minutes as they led 1-0 by the half time break.
The BUL and Uganda U-20 forward tapped home a low cross from a lively Police and Uganda Cranes left winger Aggrey Madoi.
Two second half substitutes Richard Wandyaka and Joel Madondo combined to score the other two goals in the 64th and 77th minutes respectively.
Uganda Cranes defender Isaac Isinde captained the Busoga Province team.
Joel Madondo was named man of the match.
The well attended match was also watched by the Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon. Rebecca Kagada, the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo with the Vice President Justus Mugisha as well as the third Vice President Owek. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, FUFA CEO Edgar Watson, Uganda Cranes head coach Sebastien Desabre, Buganda Kingdom Prime minister Richard Muvawala, National Council of Sports’ Dr. Patrick Benard Ogwel, FUFA Executive Committee members and staff as well multitudes of spectators.
After the match, the Speaker of Parliament appreciated the tournament and thanked the federation for the initiative.

She later handled over the man of the match Madondo with a cash envelope as a sign of appreciation for his effort and contribution in the game.
The other matches of the FUFA Drum continue on Sunday.
There will be seven games to be played across the country. Teso hosts Sebei at the Kongunga ground in Bukedea, Lango plays Acholi in the much awaited derby duel at the Lango Sports ground in Lira and Buganda will entertain Kigezi at the Masaka Recreational stadium.
Meanwhile, Bukedi will take on Kampala at the Budaka Saza ground in Budaka, Bunyoro shall entertain Rwenzori at the Boma play ground in Hoima.
West Nile kicks off the tourney away from home against Karamoja at the Booma play ground in Moroto.
Ankole shall face Tooro at the Kakyeeka stadium in Mbarara.
The theme of this tournament is ‘Celebrating Our Ancestry’.
