All preparations to have a successful grand opening of the FUFA Drum Tournament have been concluded by the local organizing committee led by the competition chairman, Rogers Byamukama.
The two opening teams, Busoga and Bugisu shall lock horns at the Kyabazinga stadium, Bugembe (Jinja) in the first match of the championship that will bring together the 16 provinces in Uganda.
‘All arrangements to have a great opening ceremony for the FUFA Drum tournament have been made. The two teams (Bugisu and Busoga), officials, security and all the logistics are well in place to have a successful opening where the Kyabazinga of Busoga and Speaker of Parliament Hon. Rebecca Kadaga have duly confirmed to grace’ Byamukama noted.
Both the Busoga and Bugisu teams have assembled their respective players who are fully fit for the game that kicks off at 4 p.m
Busoga head coach Charles Ayiekoh Lukula as he was addressing the media earlier in the week at FUFA vowed to work for the maximum points in the opening match.
‘We are well prepared for the opener and my team is already in camp at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru. We are the home of fine football in Uganda and we have prepared well for Bugisu Province on Saturday’ Ayiekoh, who is also head coach at Azam Uganda Premier League side, Kirinya-Jinja S.S said.
His counterpart, Godfrey ‘Toldo’ Awach was equally expectant of a decent result, a positive that will keep fans in anticipation for the final outcome at the end of the normal time.
‘I understand that with football one expects three results-a win, draw and loss but we are not thinking about the third option’ Awach, Head coach at FUFA Big league club, Kataka sounded.
The 16 Provinces in contention for the grand trophy are; Teso, Busoga, Sebei, Bugisu Teso ,Busoga, Sebei, Bugisu, Lango, Buganda, Acholi, Kigezi, Bukedi, Bunyoro, Kampala, Rwenzori, Karamoja, Ankole, West Nile and Tooro
The tournament shall be played until 6th October 2018, the date set for the final in Kasese.
