The FUFA Drum Tournament: Team Officials arrive Monday evening ahead of orientation course

  • ‘The FUFA Drum’ orientation course (On 19th & 20 December 2017)

  • USPA, FUFA President’s XI to face off in a curtain raiser match on Wednesday, 20th December 2017 in Njeru

With just hours to the The FUFA Drum tournament launch on Wednesday, the respective team officials are expected to start arriving at the FUFA Technical Center on Monday evening in preparation for the orientation course.

The orientation course is slated for the 19th and 20th December 2017 at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.

According to the detailed programme released by the tournament organizing committee, the respective team officials (three per team) from the 16 provinces in Uganda are expected to check in at the FUFA Technical center on Monday evening, with the orientation programme kicking off on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m

This newly created football tournament will be played among the 16 provinces in Uganda, starting in January 2018.

As FUFA, we know the value attached to the FUFA Drum tournament. This is the reason we have given it enough planning before it kicks off. Each of 16 provincial teams will be represented by three officials each. Reporting for the officials is Monday evening ahead of the training programme for Tuesday at 8 a.m. The training shall be for two days with the official launch on Wednesday. There will also be an official curtain raiser match between FUFA XI captained by the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo and Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA)’ Noted the FUFA Ahmed Hussein Communications Manager.

Competition Format

The competition shall be played using a mixed format of 4 Groups composed of 4 Teams.

In each group, each team will play 3 matches at home and 3 matches away.

The top 2 teams in each group will proceed to the 2 legged-quarter final played on a home-away basis.

The semifinals will also be played on a-home-away basis while the finals will be 1-leg match at a predetermined location.

THE 16 PROVINCES:

  1. West Nile: Political districts of Adjumani, Arua, Koboko, Maracha, Moyo, Nebbi, Pakwach, Yumbe and Zombo.
  2. Acholi: Political districts of Agago, Amuru, Gulu, Kitgum, Lamwo, Nwoya and Pader
  3. Lango: Political districts of Alebtong, Amolatar, Apac, Dokolo, Kole, Lira, Otuke and Oyam
  4. Karamoja: Political districts of Abim, Amudat, Kaabong, Kotido, Moroto, Nakapiripirit and Napak
  5. Teso: Political districts of Amuria, Bukedea, Kaberamaido, Katakwi, Kumi, Ngora, Serere and Soroti
  6. Sebei: Political districts of Bukwa, Kapchorwa and Kween
  7. Bugisu: Political districts of Bududa, Bulambuli, Manafwa, Mbale, Namisindwa and Sironko
  8. Bukedi: Political districts of Budaka, Busia, Butaleja, Butebo, Kibuku, Pallisa and Tororo
  9. Busoga: Political districts of Bugiri, Buyende, Iganga, Jinja, Kaliro, Kamuli, Luuka, Mayuge, Namayingo and Namutumba
  10. Kampala: This province will be composed of the District Football Associations of Central, Kawempe Nakawa, Makindye and Rubaga
  11. Buganda: This province will be composed of the political districts of Buikwe, Bukomansimbi, Butambala, Buvuma, Gomba, Kalangala, Kalungu, Kayunga, Kiboga, Kyankwanzi, Kyotera, Luweero, Lwengo, Lyantonde, Masaka, Mityana, Mpigi, Mubende, Mukono, Nakaseke, Nakasongola, Rakai, Sembabule, and Wakiso
  12. Bunyoro: Political districts of Buliisa, Hoima, Kagadi, Kibaale, Kiryandongo, and Masindi
  13. Tooro: Political districts of Bunyangabo, Kabarole, Kamwenge, Kyegegwa and Kyenjojo
  14. Rwenzori: Political districts of Bundibugyo, Kasese and Ntoroko
  15. Ankole: Political districts of Buhweju, Bushenyi, Ibanda, Isingiro, Kiruhura, Mbarara, Mitooma, Ntungamo, Rubirizi and Sheema
  16. Kigezi: Kabale, Kanungu, Kisoro and Rukungiri

About the FUFA Drum Tournament:

Following a resolution by the of the 93rd FUFA Ordinary General Assembly and the 13th FUFA Executive Committee directive to formulate the Competition, the FUFA Inter- Provinces Competition was officially introduced to the general public during a special press conference held at FUFA House in Kampala on 18th October 2017.

The Federation introduced this football tournament aimed at taking the game to the masses based on the 16 Provinces in Uganda.

It will be run and managed by official FUFA regulations.

FUFA will meet the cost of the teams in the areas of accommodation, transport,  individual and team winners’ Prizes, trophies and medals plus costs of match officials including the competition and training balls.

The tournament will be played from January to October with dates gazetted as Match Days and in the Independence week of Uganda we expect to be playing our final match

The minimum qualification for coaches to handle these teams is CAF C License holders. The masses must enjoy quality football

The league alone can’t be the best way of tapping more talent.

The clubs will also have a better hunting ground of players for their teams
