(1) CECAFA tourney dates named
CECAFA General Secretary Nicholas Musonye has named November 27th as the kick off date for this year’s CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Nairobi, Kenya. The championship that winds up on December 12th will also mark Kenya’s 50th Independence anniversary. Uganda Cranes are defending Champions. CECAFA has given member associations up to October 20th to confirm participation. There are 4 proposed venues for this year’s tournament in Nairobi, Nakuru, Kisumu and Mumias.
(2) FUFA in talks with USL

FUFA 1st Vice President Justus Mugisha has confirmed that the current Executive committee is in talks with USLL over League related matters. Addressing a weekly press conference this Wednesday, Mugisha revealed that the decision to open up talks was taken during the executive committee meeting. He further added that the Excom had been tasked him to chair the instituted sub- committee that will work towards harmonizing positions between the FUFA Super League (FSL) and the rivalry faction. Mugisha however declined to give details on grounds that the talks were still premature.
(3) Masaza finals this Saturday
His Majesty the Kabaka of Buganda will officially preside over the closing ceremony of this year’s Masaza Cup tournament at Nakivubo stadium. Ssingo, who are making their first appearance in the finals, will be taking on Mawokota. The organising committee chairman Godffrey Mbalire Ssalongo said gates will open at 10:00am and that the entry charges have been put at Shs. 5000 and Shs.10.000 for the open stands and pavilion respectively.
(4) 3 referees for CAF Elite course
The Continental Football body has named three Ugandan FIFA referees to attend an Elite ‘B’ referees’ and assistant referees’ course in Cairo, Egypt. The one week course runs from November 1 to 8th. The selected referees are Denis Batte, Mark Sonko and Ssemambo Nabikko. FUFA Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson has urged the trio to start preparing themselves and ensure that they arrive in Cairo in their best physical conditions.
(5) FUFA President in South Africa
FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo is in South Africa to attend a series of events organized by CAF in partnership with the Local Organising Committee in preparation for next year’s Africa Nations Championship. The Team Workshop will take place this Friday at the Southern Sun Hotel. The workshop, forms part of a standard component in the preparations of organising a tournament of this magnitude and will provide the participating nations with all the essential guidelines and information to assist them in their preparations for the tournament.
