Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has been cleared by FIFA to register with the NCS under the current regulations with guarantee from the Government of Uganda that there will never be third party interference in the governance of the game of Association football in Uganda.
The deadline for registration has also been extended to Wednesday 10th August, 2016.
This follows a tripartite meeting between the world soccer governing body FIFA, FUFA and the Government of Uganda at the Ministry of Education and Sports headquarters, Embassy House in Kampala.
It has been FUFA’s consistent position that decisions taken by both Government and FIFA after the meeting would be implemented with assurances that no sanctions would be slapped on the local soccer governing while government would not interfere with the running of the game despite registering under the Trusteeship Incorporation Act.
FUFA will submit additional documents to those that were earlier delivered to the NCS on 29th August, 2014 and Government has also agreed to support FUFA in this cause.
FUFA is confident that there will be uninterrupted and continued development of the game of football in Uganda and national focus will now shift to the Uganda v Comoros 2017 AFCON qualifier match slated for Saturday 3rd September 2016 at Mandela National Stadium Namboole.
The FUFA President is delighted that FUFA has received joint audience and assurances from FIFA and Government in a cordial interactive meeting that ended successfully.
‘We are grateful to the Honorable Minister of State for Sports that has played a central role in this process’ Eng Magogo Moses emphasized after the meeting.
The FIFA delegation included Mr. Luca Nicola (Manager Member Associations) and Mr. Rolf Tanner (Legal Counsel).
FUFA was represented by the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo, First Vice President Mr. Justus Mugisha, Third Vice President Mr. Denis Mbidde, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Edgar Watson and Legal officer Mr. Denis Lukambi.
