FUFA Juniors League 2020: Busoga United pip Vipers to maintain summit position

Busoga United Junior Team 3-2 Vipers Junior Team

Busoga United Junior Teams beat Vipers Sports Club Junior Team 3-2 to maintain the top position in the FUFA Juniors League Hat Trick Group on Wednesday evening at the Mighty Arena in Jinja.

Isma Mugulusi, Yusuf Bogere, and Moses Logono scored for the Busoga United in the 26th and 38th and 90th minutes while Ismail Ali pooled off a brace for Vipers SC in the 22nd and 50th minutes respectively.

Both sides received numerous scoring opportunities in the game that was full of attacking highlights. Vipers forward Ismail Ali had a chance to strike a hat trick of the day but his clear opportunity towards the goal flew over the bar with only 5 minutes to the final whistle.

Vipers forward Trevis Mutyaba was on the verge of hitting the net with his brilliants displays in the third quarter however his closest effort ended up on the crossbar in the 80th minute.

Mugulusi and skipper Edwin Opara combinations in the midfield tamed Vipers defensive mechanism on several occasions that turned to be golden scoring opportunities for the home side.

Mugulusi added on his score tally to become a joint lead scorer with 8 goals. Oscar Mawa of KCCA FC JT and Akena Richard are the other players on the same tally.

Busoga United stretched the gap to 4 points ahead of BUL FC JT in second place and Vipers SC JT remains in the third position with 18 points. This was the second consecutive loss for the 2018 Juniors League Champions Vipers after falling to defending champions BUL by 2-1 at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru on Sunday.

Meanwhile, in the Treble group, KCCA SA leads the log with 30 points followed by Bright Stars FC JT with 23 points.

Action will resume this weekend with matchday 10 fixtures on 16th February.
