FUFA Juniors League: Prosper Soccer Academy wins Kampala Region trophy

Prosper Soccer Academy are the winners of the 2022/23 FUFA Juniors League (U17) of Kampala Region.

This comes after finishing the season as table leaders with 75 points.

On Sunday June 4th, 2023, Prosper Soccer Academy defeated NEC FC Junior side 3-2 at Kawempe Muslim playground to seal their maiden championship as the league came to an end.

Fred Muwanguzi, Patrick Ouke and Frankline Tamale scored the vital goals that led them to victory.

Head coach Ronald Ssali expressed his happiness and thanked the Federation for putting up the League.

“We thank the Almighty for this achievement, we are a new side, and this is so important to us. I thank the Federation for organising this league. I hope and believe many will be important players to the country in the near future,” he said.

Prosper finished seven points ahead KCCA FC Soccer Academy and will now wait for the National Championship comprising of the five champions from different regions towards the end of this month at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru, to determine the National Champion.

Niwamanya Junior of SC Villa JT finished as leading scorer with 21 goals, one ahead of Madut Deng Ngong of KCCA FC Soccer Academy.

This season, the FUFA Juniors League was played in regions for the very first time since it started in 2015.

A number of players from the FUFA Juniors League have since 2015 become strong pillars to different clubs in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League as well as the national team for example Mustafa Kizza, Allan Okello, Steven Sserwada, Bobosi Byaruhanga, amongst others.
