FUFA MOURNS FORMER CRANES STAR OWINY

FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo has issued a message of condolence to the family of former Uganda Cranes player Manasi Owiny.

Owiny, a former Cranes player passed away on Monday 13th July in Lira after being hospitalised with injuries following an accident that he suffered a few years ago but affected his spinal cord. He died at the age of 80.

‘We are sad to lose a football icon and former Cranes star who served his country unselfishly. These are trying moments for the football fraternity following the death of Mr. Manasi Owiny. FUFA extends its sympathies to his family, friends and football fraternity’ said FUFA President Engineer Moses Magogo.

The departed legend was part of the Uganda Cranes side in the 50s and 60s that also toured England in 1956-some of whom played barefooted against their hosts.

Burial arrangements will be released later.
