- FUFA pays UGX128M to 16 UPL clubs in Prize money
- KCCA FC were champions 2018/19 season and got UGX 60M
- Referees’ allowances worth 180M is also cleared
- FUFA uses 130 match officials in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League per season
- Each official is paid 150,000= per match
FUFA Finance Department has effected payments for the 16 Clubs and referees who officiated in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League 2018/19 season as prize monies and allowances respectively.
The latest development has been confirmed by the FUFA Finance Director Decolas Kiiza.
‘We have settled payments of all prize monies for the 16 clubs that featured in the Uganda premier League last season. The Champions KCCA FC got UGX 60M. We believe this will help the clubs during the offseason as they plan for the forthcoming coming season’ said Kiiza.
The referees also had their payments worth UGX 180M for the rest of the 2018/19 season cleared.
‘Close to 120 match officials were also settled. We have paid UGX 180M to referees, match commissioners and referees’ assessors for the entire 2018/19 season. However, the first round monies had been paid last year. There were 240 matches last season in the top league’ said Ronnie Kalema Chairman of Uganda Football Referees Association
FUFA appoints 5 officials for each outing in the top flight with each official getting allowances of UGX 150,000= per match.
For the 2nd season running FUFA has staked prize money for all the clubs in the top flight with the champions walking away with UGX 60M. Vipers SC and KCCA FC have been the biggest beneficiaries of the top prize in the last two seasons as each club emerged champion per season.
