The FUFA SACCO that was established by a resolution of the FUFA AGM of September 2019 in Adjumani held its first Annual General Members’ meeting on Monday 27th February 2023 at the FUFA Complex in Mengo.
The assembly was chaired by the SACCO Chairman Mugoye Darius flanked by other committee members who included; Ariga Rasoul (Vice Chairman), Mutabazi Deo (Treasurer), Hajjat Nalule Aisha (General Secretary) and Oryem JJ Innocent (member).
The SACCO that officially started its operations in August 2020 currently boasts of an impressive 126 membership categorised as delegates (53), Secretariat Staff (57) and FUFA Excom (16) who have collectively amassed over a half billion shillings in the 30 months.
Members’ savings are made in 3 categories; Bronze (100,000/-), Silver (150,000/-) and Gold (250,000/-).
It was started with the primary objectives of; fostering a culture of joint saving amongst internal football stake holders, advancing the socio-economic welfare of members, promoting of financial growth and stability of members, educating members on the effective utilisation of the loans/credit for personal and group development.
In the brief period of its existence, the FUFA SACCO has hard a series of benefits amongst which have been; pooling of funds for individual and joint investments, provision of safety nets for stakeholders, reduced financial stress incase of emergencies, encouraging the growth of a saving culture among internal football stakeholders, ability to attract booster funds from FUFA, Government of Uganda financial institutions among others is one of the anticipated benefits of the SACCO.
During the AGM that was also attended by the FUFA CEO Edgar Watson, FUFA ExCOM members Ronnie Kalema and Issa Magoola; different delegates and secretariat staff the committee that has been serving had its mandate extended for another 2 years.
Mugoye who is the 2nd FUFA Vice President said that his committee will be looking forward to hitting may targets like reaching a billion shillings pool and bringing on board new members.
