Mengo Senior School head coach Hassan Mulondo was treated tough welcome back from national duty as his side fell to Kiira College Butiki 5-3 in the semi-final first leg of the FUFA Tv cup.
Mulondo who doubles as the Uganda Cranes kits manager missed the two group stage games against Makerere College School as he was on national Duty.
He remains optimistic about overturning the result when the two sides face off again in Mengo in the return leg on Thursday 29th June 2023.
“I want to thank my players for the good display despite losing. We worked as a team and scored but a lack of concentration at some point cost us. However, we remain hopeful and optimistic about overturning the result at home so that we qualify for the finals God willing.”
The defeat was Mengo’s first in the tournament.
The last time they played at home, Akwanas defeated Makerere College School 1-0 while the Kiira College Butiki beat Namilyango College 1-0, the last time they played on the road.
