Preparations for the second edition of the FUFA TV Cup have gotten underway in spectacular fashion, with a planning meeting successfully held at the FUFA Complex on Saturday, 30th March 2024.

The second edition is expected to attract 52 traditional schools from across the country, an increase of over 44 schools from the 8 that participated in the first edition. The inaugural edition saw St. Mary’s College Kisubi emerging as champions after beating Kira College Butiki 2-1 in the finals played at Muteesa I Stadium, Wankulukuku.

I want to congratulate the schools that accepted our invitation to take part in the inaugural edition. We started with only 8 schools because we were piloting and just wanted to see how things would work out. However, we received calls from all circles asking why we had not included this or the other school.
FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim stated at the beginning of his speech.

We are a federation that listens to our stakeholders, and the reason we called you here is to hear from you. What was your experience like? Let us exchange ideas. What can be improved, what can be changed? This is your tournament, and your input in terms of ideas and opinions is of paramount importance.
Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim, FUFA President
The meeting was also attended by FUFA 1st Vice President Justus Mugisha, who also doubles as the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) President. He gave absolute assurance to the school representatives about the association’s support for the competition.

In my capacity as USSSA President, I want to commend FUFA for this wonderful idea that is going to change students in these schools’ chance to exhibit and develop their talents. As USSSA, we decided that the winners of the FUFA TV Cup will automatically qualify to play in the Post Primary Finals without going through the qualification process that other schools go through. We want the champion of this tournament to play against the schools
Justus Mugisha, FUFA 1st Vice President
FUFA Excom member Dr. Apollo Ahimbisibwe, who is the chairman of the organizing committee, thanked the members for their interest exhibited first by responding to the invitation. He further assured them of an even better second edition.
The Deputy CEO-Football Decolas Kiiza and Ali Mwebe the FUFA Football Development Director also attended the meeting.
