Kampala Queens Women Football Club posted headline making story following a 3-2 victory over UCU Lady Cardinals in Mukono in the FUFA Women Elite League.

UCU headed into the game already assured of a place in the play offs for the second successive season while Kampala Queens were playing for pride to complete the seaosn on a high. Both teams never disappointed their fans on Sunday evening at the Univeristy’s Campus.

A brace from Moureen Kinavudori was not enough though to save the hosts from defeat. Zaina Namuleme, playing against her club replicated Kinavudori’s statistics on the day as she hit the back of the net twice with Damalie Matama getting the other for Kampala Queens who returned to the Capital with maximum points.

In the other fixtures played over the weekend:

Cissy Nakawala scored the game’s solitary goal as Mutesa Royal University edged Rines 1-0.

Gafford Ladies’ poor show in the league continued on Sunday as they lost to Eastern Heroes 1-0.

She Mak who struggled at the beginning of the season but gained momentum at the final bend, secured 3 points off Ajax Queens with a hard fought 1-0 victory. Ana Koubusingye’s lone strike handed Hadijah Namuyanja’s side the much needed win.

Defending champions Kawempe Muslim Secodndary School Women Footabll club, yet to lose this season (won all their 11 games so far) tops Elizabeth group with 33 points. UCU Lady Cardinals are in 2nd place with 23 points.

In the Victoria group, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga are at the summit having collected 26 points while Olila Women FC are 4 points behind in 2nd position.
