Newcomers King of Kings WFC from Fort Portal City made a perfect start to life in the FUFA Women Elite League after nicking a hard-fought win over Asubo Gafford Ladies as the second division started on Saturday at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

Evelyn Katusiime scored the lone goal, coming in the 33rd minute when she lobbed the ball past onrushing goalkeeper Nuru Babirye.

Despite having several experienced players such as Shakira Mutiibwa, Christine Nambirigge, Sheebah Zalwango and Nuru Nakyanzi, Asubo Gafford Ladies lacked conviction in the final third.

Asubo Gafford Ladies thought had levelled matters at the start of the second half when skipper Shakira Mutiibwa tapped home but her goal was ruled for offside.

Coach Jackson Nsubuga is convinced that his charges will bounce back in their next games against Luweero Giants Queens and Dynamic SS Jjeza.

‘I’m disappointed that we didn’t today. We definitely need to improve in some areas but I am optimistic we shall be able to bounce back.’ He said.

On the other hand, Rogers Ayesiga the head coach of King of Kings believes it was important to start with victory and this gives them momentum ahead of the next game.
