FUFA Women Super League

Kampala Queens 0-1 Kawempe Muslim Ladies

Olila High School 2-0 She Corporate

Uganda Martyrs High School 2-0 Lady Doves

UCU Lady Cardinals vs Muteesa I Royal University (Not Played)

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC continued with their perfect start to the season after overcoming Kampala Queens on Sunday in Kabojja.

A closely contested affair that pitted two national team coaches in Faridah Bulega (Crested Cranes head coach) and Ayub Khalifa (Uganda U-17 Women’s national team) saw the latter edge the affair.

Despite Kawempe Muslim missing striker Juliet Nalukenge through injury, the Warriors fought hard to win 1-0 thanks to Anita Namata’s second half strike.

The diminutive winger capitalised on poor marking by Kampala Queens’ defenders to slot past onrushing goalkeeper Lydia Adubango.

Fauzia Najjemba nearly salvaged a point for Kampala Queens at the death of the clock when she jumped high and directed a powerful header on target but Kawempe had defender Samalie Nakachwa to thank for a goal-line clearance.

The result meant Kawempe Muslim moved top of the table on 15 points in five games and they remain the only team yet to concede a goal this season.

Elsewhere, Lady Doves who went into the weekend on top of the table on 13 points were condemned to their first loss this season, falling to Uganda Martyrs in the game played at St. Gerald’s stadium in Lubaga.

Budding striker Latifa Nakasi who is playing in the top tier league for the first time netted a second half brace to take her goal tally to four this season.

Lady Doves who play Kawempe Muslim next dropped to second place while Uganda Martyrs on the other hand moved to third place on 10 points.

She Corporate suffered a 2-0 loss to Olila High School in Soroti district on Sunday. This was the first win for Olila who had lost all the previous four games.

Ceclia Apiding and Siporosa Amoding scored a goal each to guide Olila to victory.

The game between UCU Lady Cardinals and Muteesa I Royal University was not played with the latter failing to avail licensed players.

This is the third game that Muteesa have failed to play this season.

The FUFA Competitions Department will make a ruling on the matter, bearing in mind that if a team misses three games, they are demoted to the lower divisions.
