FIFA U17 Women World Cup 2020 Qualifiers:
Second Round First leg- 1st, March 2020
Tanzania – Uganda
National U17 women football team head Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi believes his girls have what it takes to advance past the second round and CECAFA rivals Tanzania.
Uganda takes on Tanzania in the second round of the FIFA U17 Women World Cup 2020 Qualifiers with the winner advancing to the 3rd and final qualifying round.
The team that has been in camp for a week now intensively preparing for the first match of the 2 legged fixture played a practice match today afternoon comfortably winning 11-0 against Watoto Girls in a game played in Watoto village, Bbira along Mityana Road.
Team captain Juliet Nalukenge and Margaret Kunihira each got a hattrick, Zaituni Namaganda a brace whereas Fauzia Najjemba, Brenda Munyana, and Moureen Nangonzi each scored a goal in the afternoon fixture.
The first leg in Dar es Salaam will be played on March 1st, 2020 and the return leg a fortnight later in Kampala.
‘ I am pleased with the outcomes of this friendly game for a number of reasons. It has helped boost the girls’ confidence as well as helping us (the technical team) try out different playing partnerships among other things we were looking out for. We achieved our set objectives from this game.’ Ayub remarked.
‘We are facing a tougher opponent in Tanzania but I am confident we have what it takes to go past them. This practice match helped us try out different aspects of our game that we intend to employ.’ He added.
The team will have another practice match on Tuesday before flying out a few days later to Dar later.
The team will have a single training session on Sunday morning at 9am at Kawempe Muslim SS playgrounds
