FIFA Coaching Instructor Mathiot Ulrich has hailed FUFA for putting a lot of emphasis on the education of coaches in the country.
Mathiot who is from Seychelles believes that FUFA are taking a right route.
‘The future is bright for FUFA investing in the education of coaches who handle youth football. I want you to make it practical after this course at your clubs by involving the young players’ said Mathiot.
28 coaches from the 16 Azam Uganda Premier League clubs submitted names of participants to FUFA for the 5 day course that started on Monday at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru. UPDF FC, Masavu FC and Onduparaka FC never submitted their coaches’ names.
The course was officially opened today by the FUFA CEO Edgar Watson.
Watson revealed that the FUFA Juniors league will have changes next year to consider 18 year old players but those who played in previous U-17 Leagues will be given priority as well.
The current set up of coaches’ education is a key area that FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo would like to put a lot of energy and investment.
‘In the General Assembly in Masindi, the FUFA President stressed that youth football will be top on agenda in the strategic plan passed in 2016. This course is part of the plan with support from the world soccer governing body FIFA’ said Watson.
The course has attracted some of the former National team players like Philip Ssozi, Ssaka Mpiima and Simeon Masaba.
The FUFA Technical Director Asumani Lubowa and Education Officer Jackson Nyiima are also in Njeru.

The other participants are Ssaka Mpiima (Dynamic SS), Opio Joseph Onyango, Mutyaba Bashir (FUFA Youth Development Officer) and Ngabo Pius (Express FC).
