The Uganda U20 National Team had on Wednesday received good news after FUFA confirmed they will be bagging USD 80,000 for making it to the quarterfinals at the ongoing Total Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Mauritania.

The Hippos have had scintillating performance at the tournament so far, winning two of the three group games and thus sealing a berth into the final eight.

FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo delivered the good news to the players and technical team in a zoom meeting.

In his address, the President lauded the team for a job well done so far and encouraged them to even aim for the very best at the tournament.

“FUFA and the football fraternity is happy for the job done so far. We believe you have represented us well. For making it past the group stage, a cash prize of USD 80,000 will be given to you and if we can go ahead and lift the trophy, USD 200,000(About USH 740M) awaits.”. He stated.

This message came at a time when the team is preparing to face Burkina Faso at the quarterfinal stage on Thursday at 10:00PM (Local time).

It should be noted that this is the first time Uganda is taking part in this tournament.
