KAGAME CECAFA CLUBS CHAMPIONSHIPS: Ugandan side KCC falls to Azam FC

RESULTS: KAGAME CECAFA CUP

Azam 1-0 KCC

Gor Mahia 2-1 Yanga

KMKM 1-0 Telecom

Malakia 2-1 Adama City

Coaches Mike Mutebi and Sam Simbwa will need to ask their players to be sharper infront of goal following a slim 1-0 defeat at the hands of Tanzanian side Azam FC in the Kagame CECAFA Club Championship in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

On a weekend that also saw Uganda Kobs beaten 4-0 by Egypt in the 3rd round first leg qualifier of the Africa U-23 Championship, there was hope that KCC FC would quickly help erase the bad memories of the result from Saturday’s action in Alexandria.

That didn’t happened as KCC conceded an early goal on 14 minutes through John Bocco. KCC piled a lot of pressure on Azam but couldn’t yield a goal.

Stylish Micheal Birungi hit the post during the first half.

KCC FC will return to action on Wednesday when they play Ethiopian side Adama City.

Meanwhile Uganda Cranes left winger Brian Majwega is likely to miss the Kagame CECAFA club championship with a throat infection.

Majwega missed Azam’s 1-0 win over KCC FC with the problem.

KCC XI vs Azam FC: Benjamin Ochan , Denis Okot, Habib Kavuma, Hassan Dazo Wasswa, Martin Mpuga, Hakim Ssenkumba, Micheal Birungi, Tom Masiko , Derrick Nsibambi, Muzamir Mutyaba and Joseph Ochaya

Substitutes: Emmanuel Opio, Owen Kasule, Ivan Ntege, Saka Mpiima, Timothy Awani, Shaban Kondoa and Dan Nsubuga
