Kampala Regional Football Association has officially released the road map for the 2017/18 season.
In a press conference organized at FUFA House on Friday, the region vice chairman Peter Nkugwa who was joined by the CEO Isaac Ssengendo and media committee member Meddie Ssengendo underlined the bold intention of the association to organize all the football activities of the region to perfection.
‘We are glad to officially release our road map to the public. Kampala Region is privileged to announce the first ever super cup that will be like a curtain raiser to the season’ Nkugwa noted.
Mutungo (losing finalists in the regional promotional final to Ntinda United) will play Lungujja Galaxy in the first ever edition of the Kampala region super cup at the Mutesa II Wankulukuku stadium this Sunday.
On the same day, the winning team of the U-15 league (Sparta 09) and the outstanding players will be rewarded.
Sparta 09 will engage Jiddah African Child team in the earlier curtain raiser at 2 p.m.
For the record, Kampala Region started the first ever U-15 football league in the country, a feat that Nkugwa attributed to good planning.
‘As Kampala Region, we have always set the trend. There is good planning. We organized the U-15, now we have the Super Cup and there are lots other things planned in the pipeline’ he added.
He also hinted of the other activities that are run by the region as the women football league (Isra Academy were champions in 2017) and the Uganda Cup.
Registration for the Uganda Cup with the non league teams expected to pay Shs 300,000. The 4th division and regional clubs (3rd division) will pay Shs 200,000 and Shs. 100,000 respectively.
