Kasese district FUFA delegate Robert Donny together with six Western Region League players were on Sunday night injured in a road accident along Kampala-Mubende highway.
Donny an official with New Villa FC and a FUFA referee had accompanied his club to Oyam district for a FUFA organized Uganda Cup match against Rising Stars FC. The visitors lost 1-0 before they faced an accident as they travelled back home.
An unidentified omnibus driver, Reg. No. UAJ 106R in which the club was travelling swerved off the road in an attempt to dodge an over speeding trailer. The trailer reportedly had full lights that made the taxi driver lose clear sight of the road.
The injured players have been identified as Mutyaba Nasoor, Mwenzukye Angelo Isaac, Byakatonda Moses, Baruku Robert, Christopher Busingye and Umar Ssematiko. Donny was also travelling with his wife M/s Agnes Mwirumubi who also got injured.
Christopher Busingye was however critically injured and he has been transferred to Mulago Govt.referral hospital in Kampala as the rest get maintained at Mubende.
