KCCA FC crowned Azam Uganda Premier League champions 2016/17 season

KCCA FC have been crowned Azam Uganda Premier League champions for the second successive season hence defending their title.

KCCA FC who also won the 2015/16 title amassed a whopping 66 points from 30 games to retain the premier league title.  KCCA FC fend-off challenge from seasoned challengers and record champions SC Villa who finished second with eight points shy of the champions on 58 points.

Two first half goals from Geoffrey Serunkuuma and Tom Masiko gave the champions a deserving 2-1 victory against the already releagted Sadolin side in their last fixture played Philip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.

FUFA President Eng. Moses Hassim Magogo officially handed over the trophy to KCCA FC captain Denis Okot who raised it aloft amidst cheers and ululations from the adoring fans who later on joined their players on pitch for extended celebrations. KCCA FC offered free entrance to all fans.

KCCA FC will represent Uganda in CAF Champions League in 2018.

After bagging the league trophy, KCCA FC are now in line to win their first double in the club’s history if they can eliminate bitter rivals and Uganda Cup semifinal opponents Express FC to face winner between Paidha Black Angels and Sadolin FC who are facing off in the other semifinal. Paidha Black Angels however holds a 2-0 goal cushion over Sadolin.

The final day saw Lweza FC join Sadolin and JMC Hippos as the relegated teams.

The fans turned up in big numbers to witness the crowning ceremony as KCCA FC lifted their 12th League title.

Police FC were awarded three goals and three points from their abandoned match with JMC Hipposes last week.
