Key Highlights of the 91st FUFA Ordinary Assembly hosted by the North Eastern region

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) held the 91st Ordinary General Assembly hosted by the North Eastern region at the Soroti Hall on Saturday, 27th and Sunday 28th September 2015.

The assembly follows that of the previous year which took place at St Lira Hotel, hosted by the Northern region.

Chief Guest in attendance was Jimmy Ebil Segawa, the Resident District Commissioner of Kaberamaido, who represented His Excellence the president of Uganda, whom FUFA had invited.president_greets_mugoye

FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo presented the president’s activity report that detailed each and every task undertaken by FUFA.

Eng Magogo summarized the report in a team of 11 players where he is the head coach.

Governance (Goal keeper), Secretariat, FIFA Projects (Two central back defenders), Finance (Right Back), Legal (Left Back), Communications (Defensive midfield), Marketing (Attacking midfield), Refereeing (Wing Right), Club Football (Left Wing), Competitions (Half Forward) and Technical (Center Forward).

He lauded the Government of Uganda and in particular, showered praise to the President H.E General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the support and love he has always showed to the beautiful sport and FUFA in general.

He hinted on the issues of accountability and good enough, the well audited financial report of 18 months was presented by the FUFA Finance Director, Decolas Kizza before the delegates.

Eng. Magogo praised the media on the objective reporting especially about the women elite league and called upon the other football competitions to be accorded the same.

Delegates deliberated on several pertinent issues of how best football can be developed.

Important to note was the football players’ delegate Edward Kalungi who rallied for the players’ insurance fund.

In the budget presented for the year 2016, it is clear the referees have had an increment of match offication allowances, a move geared towards ensuring better service delivery.

Two members, Adoko Neykon and Bbale Mugera whose service to the game of football could never go unmentioned were bestowed on the titles of FUFA Hononary President and FUFA Hononary member respectively.

Long serving FUFA legal chairman, Alex Luganda was awarded a special medal of recognition for his diligent services offered to football for the past 10 years.

Luganda, citing a busy work schedule, recently communicated to the FUFA President about relinquishing his duties as the FUFA legal chairperson committee.

“Alex Luganda has been a committed lawyer, dedicated and never lost any case in the courts of law in the last 9 years. FUFA wishes him the best in his future deliberations”

The Assembly also accorded the Government and President Museveni a standing ovation for their massive contribution to football. A minute’s silence for the departed souls in the previous year was also observed.
