One of Uganda’s representatives in this year’s continental club football Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU) will make their debut appearance on Saturday against Don Bosco of Democratic republic of Congo. The two sides clash in the first leg preliminary round of the CAF Confederations cup in Lubumbashi.
With a dinner organized at Metro Pole Hotel in Kololo by their club chairman Simo Dubajic, the players looked relaxed ahead of their maiden show. He function was attended by FUFA top guns President Engineer Moses Magogo, CEO Edgar Watson and Vice President Mujib Kasule. The Uganda Cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic and former FUFA treasurer Patrick Isiagi were also invited for the send-off dinner.
In a three minute speech by the FUFA boss, Magogo told the players that they have the privilege to show their skills and represent Uganda.
‘It is your commitment on the pitch that helps you pick up results. Your output will make the 33 million Ugandans happy’ said Magogo while addressing the attentive audience that included members from the sports media.
He further advised the players that discipline leads to greater heights in future.
‘Discipline is paramount in whatever you do in sports. It is a number one rule for all sports men’ added Magogo.
Magogo said that the football fans will give SCVU team all their support both while playing away and at home.
The club chairman Simo who made a 90 sec speech urged his boys to keep the country’s flag high while in DRC.
