Masaka Select 3-2 President’s XI
St. Henry’s College Kitovu Masaka
Former Uganda Cranes Player Hakim Magumba scored a brace as the President’s XI lost 3-2 to Masaka select in an entertaining match played on the eve of the Stanbic Uganda Cup final at St. Henry’s College Kitovu.
The game which attracted thousands of fans involved former Cranes internationals Sam Kawalya, Edward Kalungi, Andy Lule, Philp Ssozi, Richard Malinga, Hassan Mubiru, Alex Isabirye, Iddi Batambuze, Ali Kayongo, Edgar Watson who is also the CEO at FUFA plus the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo the captain of the President’s XI team.
Skills and technics were highlighted in the entire game that produced 5 goals. Magumba gave the President’s XI the lead in the first half before Masaka select equalised minutes later.
Masaka select added two consecutive goals after the break and convincingly led the game 3-1. However, Magumba never gave up with his exciting dribbles and movements until he grabbed the second to make it 3-2.
Mubiru and Watson came off the bench to play a part in the game that was attended by a good number of fans from the local area, Nyendo Masaka.
After the game, the entire team, the FUFA President and Exco members paid a courtesy visit to Brother Augustine Mugabo’s office before departure. Father Augustine is the head teacher of St Henry’s Kitovu Secondary school
President’s XI is a FUFA President team with selected former Cranes internationals and it plays such entertaining games during FUFA events. The Ex-Internationals are FUFA Ambassadors.
