Makerere University outwit Asubo Gafford Ladies to win 2021/22 FUFA Women Elite League Title

Makerere University 6-0 Asubo Gafford Ladies

Makerere University are the Winners of the 2021/22 FUFA Women Elite League after beating Asubo Gafford Ladies 6-0 in the final played at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Saturday.

Makerere University celebrate one of their goals.

Striker Sharon Namatovu netted a hat trick while experienced Winnie Babirye, Jemima Twesigye and second half substitute Rebecca Nakasato scored the other goals.

Namatovu opened the scores as early as the second minute of the game before Babirye and Twesigye scored in succession to make it 3-0.

Namatovu made it 4-0 in the 18th minute and completed her hat trick with a tap-in five minutes into the second half.

Namatovu was named the Most Valuable Player of the season while Wakiso Hill striker Slyvia Namiwanda was the league’s top scorer with 13 goals.

Makerere University shot stopper Zahara Nankya was named the best goalkeeper.

Wakiso Hill WFC won the fair play award.

Winners Makerere WFC earned a cash prize of UGX 8M while runners up Asubo Gafford Ladies took home UGX 5M.

Second placed teams in each group, that’s Isra Soccer Academy and Wakiso Hill WFC got UGX 2.5M.

Each individual award came with a cash prize of UGX 0.5M.
