Makumbi was a humble, dedicated servant in the sports media -says FUFA President

The FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo  believes that the sports media fraternity has lost a very humble and dedicated person in Mark Makumbi. The Sports presenter who passed on yesterday after long battle with cancer at Mulago Hospital leaves behind a strong legacy.

At the time of his death, he was still employed at CBS FM. He also worked for Radio Sapientia based in Nsambya.

‘I always had jolly discussions with him and he loved local football so much’ said Magogo in reference to the departed sports presenter.

FUFA issued a message of condolence to the family of Makumbi. It was signed by the Acting CEO Mr. Decolas Kiiza on behalf of Edgar Watson who is on duty in Rwanda for the CHAN Finals.

The message reads

‘It is with great shock that the Uganda football fraternity received sad news of the death of Augustine Mark Makumbi an employee of CBS FM.

FUFA believes there are no words that can best describe the deceased’s contribution to Ugandan football especially in Uganda through the media.

We note that Makumbi has had a hand in the success and history of Ugandan football during this era where he used to feed the public with information about local football.

On behalf of the FUFA President, Executive, Secretariat and all Member Associations, I wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to the family of Makumbi and the staff at CBS FM on the loss of a man who served the sports media wholeheartedly.

We however thank God for his life as we pray that the Almighty rests his soul in Eternal Peace’

Makumbi will be laid to rest on Saturday in Sumbwe off Mityana Road at 4pm.
