MAPINDUZI CUP 2015: Tuesday, 6th January 2015 Result
KMKM (Zanzibar) 1-2 KCC FC (Uganda)
Uganda’s representatives at the on-going Mpinduzi Peace cup in Zanzibar, Kampala City Council Football Club are now assured of a quarter final berth.
This followed the victory of the tourney’s defending champion over home side, KMKM 2-1 at the Aman national stadium.
Goals from strikers, Herman Wasswa and Michael Birungi gave KCC their second victory in group B and an assurance of progression to the quarter finals.
KCC started the match requiring just a point to progress to the last 8 stage of the tourney.
How KCC progressed:
The Abduallah Mubiru coached side had days earlier whipped another Zanzibar side, Mtende F.C 3-0 (William Wadri’s brace and Herman Wasswa) that followed the opening 2 all draw with Tanzanian Champions, Azam F.C.
KCC FC will learn of the quarter final opposition after the completion of all group games.
The Tournament is a warm up event for the 2012/13 and 2013/14 Uganda league champions ahead of the upcoming league second round come February 2015.
KCC will also represent Uganda at the 2015 CAF champions’ league where they will face Cameroonian league champions,Comos De Bafia.
The Ugandan champions will play the first of their preliminary round away in Yaounde City between February 13th- 15th 2015 with the return leg scheduled for 27th–1st March 2015.
