Match assessors complete course in Jinja

The 3 in one Elite course at Njeru Technical centre in Jinja has already bore fruits as the first set of graduates-the match assessors completing their education and practical part. The FIFA Elite course has attracted match assessors, referees and instructors.

The high profile course which kicked off on Monday and ends on Friday is handled by FIFA instructors Malawian Mark Mzengo and Felix Tangawarima from Botswana.

The match assessors arrived in Jinja on Monday but were joined by the referees who had a physical fitness test at Mandela National stadium, Namboole today where three referees Ali Sabira, Ronnie Kalema and Serunyigo Geoffrey failed to complete the physical fitness tests. Brian Nsubuga never showed up.

The 21 match assessors were cautioned by the FUFA President Engineer Moses Magogo on how to handle matches.

‘The success of the matches depends on how your reports about referees are made. Your reports help the authorities concerned to analyzed improve on the referees’ performance’ said Magogo who attended both the physical fitness test at Namboole and opening ceremony of the course in Jinja.

He added that match assessors are a big aspect of the game.

‘We have had top referees at international levels. I think we need many more match assessors at the highest level as well’ added Magogo.

The 21 match assessors who attended and completed the course are:

Margaret Kubingi, Umar Bawutu, Mansoor Kimumwe, Catherine Adipo, Aisha Nalule, Kamulegeya Yusuf, Siraje Katono, Ajab Waiswa, Kityo Sozi, Paul Mayanja, Katumba George William, David Davies Katabira, Dennis Ojwee, Yusuf Awuye, Mawanda Ndawula, Kiwanuka Edirisa, Egesa Samuel, Nkono Amin Bosa, Sendyowa Abbas, Kabwimukya George and Mpiima Sam
