MEMORIAL CUP: FUFA President opens Obua, Otti turnament in Amolatar

The 3rd Edition of the Denis Obua and David Otti Memorial tournament kicked off at Amolatar Boma Ground yesterday.

The tournament held in memory of the two football legends from Northern region has attracted six district teams but defending champions Gulu are missing.

FUFA President Eng Moses Magogo presided over the opening day’s action as the chief guest.

‘Such tournaments help in tapping talent. I’m hopeful that each year when this tournament is held, new players are  spotted’ said FUFA President Magogo.

The President was accompanied by FUFA Executive member Dr Bernard Patrick Ogwel, Buganda delegate Joseph Mwanje and chairman of Uganda Football Players Association Patrick Ntege.

The team taking part are in two groups:

A: Otuke, Amolatar, Aleptong

B: Kitgum, Dokolo,Lira

Results: Thursday

Amolatar 1-2 Aleptong

Lira 0-3 Dokolo

The tournament is played on a round robin basis at the group stage before switching to the knock out basis at the semifinal stage tomorrow. The final will be played on Sunday.
