Striker Sandra Nabweteme believes playing at the COSAFA Women’s Championship in South Africa will offer Uganda the best preparations for the Africa Women Cup of Nations Qualifier matches against Ethiopia next month.
The Crested Cranes will face Ethiopia in the first round of the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations Qualifiers but that will come after playing at the COSAFA Women’s Championship in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
The Championship is slated to take place between 28th September -9th October 2021.
Nabweteme who plies her trade at Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar in Iceland believes playing at the COSAFA Women’s Championship is good build up to the AWCON Qualifiers.
“It’s an advantage to us because some of the players have not been active. Having a build up tournament is definitely a good opportunity to prepare ourselves better.” She said.

The 2015 Airtel FUFA Female player of the year also indicates that the target is to perform better in the AWCON Qualifiers and advance to the next stage.
“The target is to perform better than the previous occasions and that means we must go past Ethiopia.”
Nabweteme is one of the four foreign based players summoned by the head coach George Lutalo. The other three are; Shiraz Natasha, Laki Otandeka and Yudaya Nakayenze.
