The Uganda Cranes will play Nigeria today in an intentional friendly at the magnificent Akwa Ibom Stadium in Uyo state.

Kick off time is 6pm local time, 8pm in Uganda. FUFA FM 102.1 will broadcast the match live.

Head coach Milutin Sredojevic has 16 players available for selection for today’s match.

However among those are five youngsters named in the contingent that started its journey on Sunday evening from Kampala through Entebbe airport  via Addis Ababa with a connection to Abuja before ending up at the Akwa Ibom intentional airport.

Shafik Bakaki of Express FC, Kiyemba Ibrahim of Lweza FCC, Crizestom Ntambi of SC Villa, Joseph Nsubuga with Bright Stars FC and Derrick Tekwwo are the four players who might make their international debut tonight.

The four of the five have already tasted life at international level when they featured for the U23 team against Mozambique but the match in Uyo will require them to step up a gear.

Alex Kakuba who plays his club football in Portugal with Estoril Praia is also seeking for his international debut.

Go and play to the best of your ability. We have confidence in you and that’s why you are part of this squad here. If things don’t go down well for you during the match, I will take the blame. If you do well, take the credit

Said Micho as he briefed the players in the evening after dinner in preparation for the game.

Micho has asked the senior players on the team Denis Onyango, Geoffrey Massa, Godfrey Walusimbi and Robert Sentongo to give a helping hand to the young players who are breaking into the Uganda Cranes team.

You all had a starting point for the Uganda Cranes. Help these young players to find a strong footing

Added Micho as he urged his senior players to help the new kids on the block.

The Cranes had a training session in the stadium last evening before the Nigerians took control of the proceedings at the same venue.

The match will be officiated by Ghanaian referees.

The 16 Uganda Cranes players in Nigeria are;

Denis Onyango, Isma Watenga, Joseph Nusbuga, Shafik Bakaki, Alex Kakuba, Godfrey Walusimbi, Ibrahim Kiyemba, Richard Kasaga, Keziron Kizito, Khalid Aucho, Kizito Luwagga, Crizestom Ntambi, Geoffrey Massa, Robert Sentongo, Farouk Miya and Derrick Tekwwo.
