Nile Basin Tournament:
SCVU 0 – 0 Al Merreikh
Uganda’s ambassadors at the 2014 CECAFA Nile Basin football tournament, Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU) held Sudanese power horse, Al Merreikh to a non scoring draw on Sunday.
Despite missing Noah Ssemakula (injured during first game against Malakia), Dan Nsubuga (left in Uganda with Knee injury), Denis Iguma and Savio Kabugo (with national team, The Cranes), SCVU played gallantly to hold the highly fancied and facilitated team.
The draw means that SCVU goes to 4 points, same as Al Merriek who beat Zanzibar’s Polisi in the opener on Friday.
SCVU had beaten South Sudan side, Malakia in the team’s narrow 1 – 0 victory on Friday.
Defender Murushid Jjuuko got SCVU’s only goal after just 12 minutes.
They will get back into action against Polisi on Tuesday evening hoping for just a draw to progress to the last 8.
