The Cecafa Nile Basin quarter finals will once again resume today (Saturday, 31st May 2014) with Uganda’s Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU) taking on Tanzania’s Mbeya City in Sudan.

They will play without midfielder, Muzamiru Mutyaba who got a red card in the last group of Group A against Zanzibar’s Polisi f.c.

On Friday, AFC Leopards romped through to the semifinals of the CECAFA Nile Basin Cup Winners Cup with a 3-2 win over Ethiopian side Defence in a match played at the Al-Merreikh in Khartoum.

Skipper Paul Were dribbled past three defenders but was brought down in the box, Leopards winning a penalty. The speedy winger stepped up and sent Defence custodian the wrong way to open the scoring.

Hardworking Noah Wafula doubled the lead just before the break with a superb goal. Jackson Saleh was replaced by Mike Khamati after he sustained a hamstring injury.

Favourites, Al Merriekh were on Friday ejected out of the tourney after a 3 -2 result that followed a one all draw in normal time.

The winners of the tournament will bag USD. 60,000, with the runners up taking USD.30,000 and the second runners up bagging USD.10,000.
