With girls playing football in this tournament for the first time, players were eager to try out their skills and talent on an artificial turf-many of them have never played on such a surface.

Kampala Region representatives Habanom Quality Academy registered the biggest win of the day defeating Eastern Region side Kivubuka Primary School 3-0.

Mupyangu Halima netted a brace while Nabukeera Lillian scored the other goal for the Kawempe based school.

Buganda Region’s Bombo UMEA edged Ngora Primary School from North East 1-0 thanks to Mable Adong’s strike.

Hope Christine of  Oasis Primary School from Arua scored the game’s solitary goal for her school against Otino Waa from Kole District.

The FUFA 1st Vice President and Chairman Odilo Organising Committee Justus Mugisha presided over the official opening ceremony. He advised participants to utilise the tournament to develop their talents. He also handed over three balls and a full set of jersey to each participating school.

‘Our intention to include the girls in the Odilo Championship is to tap talent and give them more exposure to the game of football. We expect you to utilise this opportunity well because the games are live on FUFA Tv. The world is watching you and from here we expect you to become better footballers. The winning team and runners-up will represent Uganda in Arusha at the Regional Championship’ noted Mugisha
