Buganda Region schools football giants Rays of Grace are the champions of the 1st edition of Odilo FUFA Primary Schools Competition after beating Oasis Annex from West Nile 1-0 in the final played at FUFA Technical Centre – Njeru on Wednesday.
Kasanya Leonard was the hero for the Buikwe based school with a sole effort in the 85th minute that gave Rays of Grace a historical victory.

The Rays of Grace forward Kasanya who is also the capatin of his team was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the National Finals. He also ended the tournament with four goals.

Bright Valley Primary School from Gulu took third place with a convincing 2-0 win over Eastern region winners Busumbu Primary School. The goals were scored by Mwaka Emmy and Ochero Solomon.
Green Valley Primary School from Mbarara inWestern Region finished seventh in the competition after beating North Eastern giants God’s Grace Primary School by 7-0. Atwijukire Viella scored six goals while Sengabi Bruno netted the other goal.
42 goals were scored at the National Finals competition that had 12 matches played since Sunday 4th August.
Green Valley Primary School striker Atwijukire Viella emerged the top scorer with 7 goals. Rays of Grace forward Kasanya Leonard finished second with 4 goals.
Rays of Grace Primary School goalkeeper Amongot Francis won the best goalkeeper award.
Western Region’s Green Valley Primary School took the Fairplay award.

The final match and awards ceremony was honored by FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo, FUFA 1st Vice President Justus Mugisha, FUFA 2nd Vice President Darius Mugoye lpus Exco members Chris Kalibbala and Hajji Badru Sekabira Lukooya.
During the post-match interview, Eng. Magogo confirmed that 16 teams will participate in the final competition during the 2nd edition next year. Each region will be represented by two schools. However, he also asserted that girls football will be included in the 2nd edition.
‘We have witnessed a good competition and Odilo is the future of our football. We are planning to have more matches in the final therefore we shall have at least 16 teams in next year’s competition. We shall also have girls teams in the 2nd Edition’ said Eng. Magogo
Both Rays of Gace and Oasis Annex will represent Uganda in the East African games in Arusha Tanzania from 15th to 25th August 2019.
