Participants welcome FUFA Club Pro Agenda in Northern Uganda

Close to 30 participants at Pacific Hotel welcomed the FUFA Club Agenda that was officially presented to the club officials of the two clubs to represent Northern Region in the FUFA Big League next season.

District and regional football officials also attended day one of the session which had presentations from FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo, Executive Committee member Dr. Patrick Bernard Ogwel and Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein.

The two clubs are; Bright Light FC and Sporting United all from Lira district. 

Presentation by the FUFA President based on how the clubs can change from amateur to professional football. 

FUFA is using the two clubs as pioneers of the programme in Northern Uganda and will later spread to other parts of the country. Mbale, Iganga, Masaka and Mbarara are traditional football hubs that have been identified by FUFA for this similar programme in future. 

The clubs were taken through the objectives, rules and regulations of the Club Licensing Seminar all aimed at improving the levels of the game in the region.

Simon Obong Opio-Chief Executive Officer Sporting United FC ‘Our region will benefit alot from this course. I am glad that our region got the first opportunity for this progamme. We shall try our best to take this programme to other clubs’ 

Mike Odongo Chairman Bright Light FC (new comers in the FUFA Big League) ‘We cannot run away from professionalism. It’s the only way to follow if football needs to change in Uganda’ 

The programme will continue on Wednesday when the FUFA delegation holds meetings with various stakeholders of the two teams-Sporting United and Bright Light FC who will represent Northern region in the FUFA Big League next season.
