The Pepsi beach soccer league play offs produced the expected thrills and excitement to many spectators at Entebbe Sports Beach.

Quick reaction, flips, dribbles and eye catching goals define this version of football that has steadily garnered steam and taken root in Uganda.

First forward, the national league is now one of the most exciting brands of football in Uganda.

Over the weekend, there were five games played. One was a relegation play off and the other four, quarter finals.

Kampala City All Stars was relegated officially after losing 8-1 to Kabalagala Rangers in the relegation play-off.

Nasser Majaidi (3), Jackson Ocheng (2), Derrick Kabega and Jimmy Mwenyi’s own goal gave Kabalagala Rangers the massive victory.

David Muwanguzi scored the consolation for Kampala City All Stars.

Now, Kampala City All Stars joins Miami Kops and Uhuru Titans as the other earlier relegated clubs with a second division (promotional league coming up).

In the quarter finals, Nkumba Select, St Lawrence University, Real Galaticals and the suprise packages – Stormers won their respective encounter to book semi-final slots.

Nkumba Select beach soccer club won 4-2 against Dalumba International.

Allan Zirimenya (2), team captain Douglas Muganga and Roch Somoka scored for Nkumba Select.

Moses Mukiibi and Jonathan Kikonyogo were on target for Dalumba International.

Stormers ejected the defending champions, MUBS 4-2 in the shock of the evening.

Stormers’ skipper, Swaibu Kakwaya led by example with a brace as MUBS’  defender Isma Kawawulo scored a brace of own goals.

Ben Ocen and Joachim Goloba scored for the Nakawa based institution.

Title favorites St Lawrence University walloped Kampala International University 10-3 triumph.

Baker Lukooya and Sulaiman Ochero each registered a hat-trick.

Emmanuel Kalyowa (2), Joseph Nsubuga and Phillip Lwezawula were the other scorers on the day for a dominant St Lawrence side.

Bashir Babu, Nigerian import Isaac Eshioke and second period substitute scored the three consolational goals for Kampala International University.

Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) chairman, Deo Mutabazi was glad by the way the play-offs were held as regards competition and refereeing.

“We have had very competition play-offs. The level of officiation was also good and as UBSA, this is a great tide ahead of the closure at the end of the Month” Mutabazi stated.

In the semi-finals that will be played on 28th May 2016, Stormers play St Lawrence meanwhile, Nkumba Select will face Real Galaticals.
