Joseph Akandwanaho’s tag is slowly but steadily becoming a household entity in Uganda’s football for the right desirable reasons.
The silent assassin has so far been impressive in the on going StarTimes Uganda Premier League season with Soltilo Bright Stars.
This is without a doubt the best season of his life time thus far.

Not many put a lot of focus on the electrical Engineering graduate at Uganda military engineering college, Lugazi at the crawling stages of the season but his consistent assassination of teams has put him in the spotlight thus becoming a threat to opponents in his first season at the club.
He has gone on to form a formidable combination with left footed Sam Kayongo Ssekamate as well as Joseph Janjali, scoring over 20 goals amongst them so far this season a feat he attributes his commitment, amongst other aspects.

‘It is a good season we are enjoying as a team and personally my commitment, hardworking, discipline, speed on the pitch as well as trust from the coaches have helped me so far to be the player I am currently.’ he attested to www.fufa.co.ug, in an exclusive interview.
The speed merchant also narrates how life got a little hard when he had just joined the club due to home sickness but eventually over came it.

‘Life at Soltilo Bright Stars was not so easy when I had just joined as I felt uncomfortable because of the life I was used to in Mbarara but life had to go on, I met some challenges but I was committed a lot but thanks a lot to coach Baker Mbowa and defender Allan Katwe who helped me settle and now It’s okay and I have learnt some steps of professionalism.’ he adds.
With 8 goals and five assists so far to his name in the league, “Jose” is only two goals and five assists shy from his season target something he can possibly over achieve.

The Ankole region has previously produced famous players as Joseph Kabagambe, Villai Bianomugisha, Edward Mugisha, Godfrey Mugisha and most recently Paul Mucureezi, Alishe Asuman, Hilary Mukundane, to mention but a few.
Now, Akandwanaho is perfectly joining the race to waive the Western Uganda region flag.
