QUALITY OFFICIATION: FUFA Referees, Match Assessors in a brain storming session

In a bid to uphold and maintain the high levels of the standard of refereeing in all competitions, Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) on Thursday held a brain storming session with the referees.
During a special session attended by the FUFA Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson, chairman FUFA Referees standing committee Sam Mpiima, referees and the match assessors several issues related to further improvement of the level of officiating were raised and discussed.
Watson highlighted about the performance of referees as a prerequisite to improving the beautiful game.

‘Referees are a very important component of the football game. They therefore  need to be at the top of their game all the time when assigned matches’ Edgar Watson said.

During the session, referees too raised a number of issues with inquiries about unclear aspects which required clarification.
Among the issues referees rose were; allocation of games, possibility of sponsorship for referees, payments, the demarcation and maintenance of the football fields among other aspects.

FUFA will continue to conduct similar meetings to help uplift the standards of officiation of games at all games.
