Buganda Region representatives, Rays of Grace Primary School have set a date with Kampala Region representatives St. Mary’s Primary School in the final of the FUFA Primary Schools Championship Boys’ edition 2024.
The Buikwe based Rays of Grace Primary School edged out Hoima based St. Catherine Primary School 1-0 in a closely contested semifinal, thanks to a lone goal from Hamis Naluapa.
In the other semifinal, Kampala’s St. Mary’s Primary School emerged victorious over Arua’s Oasis Primary School, winning 2-1. Ian Okia and Junior Nsubuga scored for St. Mary’s while Amir Rashid netted the consolation goal for Oasis Primary School.
What the Coaches Say Ahead of the Final:
Kibuuka Morgan Samuel : Coach – Rays of Grace
‘It was a tight semifinal but the boys gave their best especially in implementing the instructions and that’s why we won. We’re now heading into the final to face a team we lost to in our opening game but that loss was a wakeup call for us. We haven’t lost a match since then, right up to the final. We’ve worked on our mistakes and we’re looking forward to the challenge.’
Lwanga Samuel: Coach – St. Mary’s Primary School
‘It was a tough semifinal against Oasis as they gave us a hard time with their style of play, which focuses on ball placement something my boys aren’t used to. However, I’m glad we managed to secure a spot in the final.
We’re facing Rays of Grace again, a team we beat 5-1 in the opening game. However, we won’t be complacent because I’m sure they’ll come with a different game plan this time. We’re ready for them and looking forward to bringing the trophy home.’
