Sand Cranes defeat Jinja Lions in practice match

Uganda National Beach Soccer Team, Sand Cranes intensified their preparations for the forthcoming Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers by defeating Jinja Lions BSC in a practice match on Sunday.

The Sand Cranes will face Comoros later this month in the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers against Comoros.

In the game played on Sunday at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, the National Team won 9-1.

FUFA Beach Soccer League top scorer Ambrose Kigozi orchestrated the damage, bagging a hat trick.

Joshua Lubwama scored twice while Ronald Magwali, Brian Nkuubi, Nicholas Mwere and Churchill Kamba netted a goal apiece.

Herman Kasadha pulled one back for Jinja Lions BSC.

Coach Salim Jamal Magoola was impressed with the performance of the team and believes this was a good test.

“The few days spent we have been in camp have given us a good start and definitely this practice game is a testimony to that. There is improvement both in the tactical and technical abilities of the players.
I hope if we get more practice matches in the remaining days, we will be in perfect shape for the Qualifiers.” He said.

The first leg will be played between 22nd-24th July in Comoros with the return leg coming between 5th-7th, August in Uganda. The winner on aggregate will qualify to the final tournament.

The 2022 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations will be held from 21st to 30th October in Maputo, Mozambique.

Uganda is seeking to return to the final tournament for the second successive time having played at the 2021 edition in Senegal where the team reached the semifinals.
