2015 AFCON
First leg, Third round
Uganda vs Equatorial Guinea
(To be played on the weekend of 18th-20th July, 2o14)
Uganda Cranes will play Equatorial Guinea in the third round of the 2015 AFCON qualification campaign after both teams posted wins in the return leg of the second round matches played this weekend.
Having knocked out Madagascar on away goals rule after a 2-2 aggregate score following Uganda’s 1-0 win over Madagascar at Mandela National stadium on Saturday, the local football fraternity was eager to find out Cranes’ next opponents.
Equatorial Guinea defeated Mauritania 3-0 to advance 3-1 o aggregate and set up a clash with the 1978 Africa cup of Nations finalists-Uganda Cranes.
Head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevich talked to www.fufa.co.ug shortly after Equatorial Guinea’s progress.
‘We shall play a good and competitive team that has a touch of Spanish football’ said Micho.
However the Serbian believes that small details will decide who joins the group stages.
‘I believe in my boys. They know what is at stake but good preparations and small details will decide the winner over two legs’ added Micho.
FUFA and the Cranes technical team will meet soon to discuss and share ideas on the exact date of hosting the first leg that will be played on the weekend of 18th-20th July at Namboole. The return leg will be played two weeks later.
