Sserumaga to guide Proline FC against Masaka

Cranes midfielder Mike Serumaga will this Friday be playing his first match for Proline FC in the FUFA Super League after sealing a two year deal with the local club.

Sserumaga who formerly featured for St. George of Ethiopia until the end of last season is among the starters against Masaka LC in the two clubs opening match to be played at Lugogo.

Elsewhere, new entrants Aurum Roses visits defending champions Express FC, Bidco hosts SC Villa and Bell Uganda Cup champions URA takes on Water FC. URA walloped Express 3-0 in the FUFA Super Cup last week.

The press statement released by Proline FC’s Press Liaison officer Swaib Raul Kanyike indicates that Serumaga agreed personal terms with the club and he is expected to spice up the club’s performance this season. Sserumaga who is currently undergoing intensive training with the Cranes squad preparing for Zambia has been a free-agent following the expiry of his contract in Addis-Ababa.

Club officials have received Sserumaga with huge excitement. “He is a highly-experienced player and we hope he will help us a lot. He has immense quality and we hope the young players will benefit from him,” said Mujib Kasule the Club Director.

Serumaga has played at different levels having featured for KB Lions, Police, URA, Helsingborgs IF (Sweden) and Bunnamwaya SC. He is the club’s eighth signing this season. Others are Isaac Owori, Edema Patrick Lecchi (returning from a six-month deal at St. George) Mboma Samuel, Okello Moses, Tabu Ahmed, Mugabi Alex and Mandela Joseph.

Proline Line up:

Charles Lukwago(GK), Kaaya Ausi, Abubakar Tabula, Makoba Dennis Bigala, Mukisa Yusufu Ssenabulya (Capt), Luyima Richard, Isaac Owori, Gift Ali Gigi, Edema Patrick, Mike Sserumaga and Kabugu Ismail.

The substitute bench will have Mboma Samuel, Bongole Anthony, William Wadri, Okello Moses,  Tabu Ahamed and Joseph Mandela. A ndrew Buteera is still nursing a knee injury while Namwanja Simon is down with malaria. Club coach Abdallah Mubiru said since it was the club’s first game of the season, they will push for a starting win.
