SC Villa and Mbarara City have made it to the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 after defeating Lugazi Municipal FC and Maroons FC respectively on Friday evening in the opening matches of round of 64
Mutanda Bashir, Owori David, Mandela Ashraf and Semujju Joseph Junior scored for SC Villa in the 4-1 triumph over Lugazi Municipal at Namboole stadium. Okot Steven netted the consolation for the visitors.

At Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara, hosts Mbarara City FC edged Maroons FC 4-3 on spot kicks after a 0-0 draw in regular time (90 minutes). No extra time is needed at this stage. So the winner was decided on penalties.
When the two sides went into the shoot-outs, it was Maroons captain Johnson Silver Okello, who fell victim as Mbarara City FC Ali Kimera saved the kick.
Mbarara City’s Siraje Musindo then composed himself to score for City and when Maroon’s Emanuel Olinga pressed his spot kick wide, the City fans started jubilating in the stands.

Maroons goalie Bugembe Ashadu then brought some life to his team by saving Mbarara’s Pistis Barenge, but Hilary Mukundane, Brian Aheebwa all converted for City before goal keeper Kimera slotted home the decider, to spark more cerebrations from the home fans.
Maroons Samson Mutyaba, Brian Majwega and Felix Okot converted their kicks successfully.

Maroons coach George Nsimbe said it was not a good day as they failed to convert many opportunities created.
‘We created many chances and the game could have been won in normal time but it was a bad day in office’ said Nsimbe
In the other fixture at Mutesa II Stadium Wankulukuku, Saviors FC failed to show up against Water FC. The FUFA Competitions Department awaits the referee’s report before taking a decision on the matter.
