Stanbic Uganda Cup: Vipers see off UPDF to book quarter final berth

Second Leg: Vipers 1-1 UPDF (Agg: 4-2)

Vipers Sports Club is through to the quarter finals of Stanbic Uganda Cup tournament for the 47th edition.

To achieve this feat, the 2016 Stanbic Uganda Cup ejected UPDF 4-2 on aggregate after two legs at the round of 16.

Vipers were held to a 1-all in the return leg at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende but had already made easy work during the first leg when they rallied from a goal down to win emphatically 3-1.

During the return leg, UPDF took the lead through defender Joseph Bright Vuni who connected home off Isa Mubiru’s curling corner kick in the 9th minute.

Vipers equalized in the 22nd minute when Bobosi Byaruhanga’s direct corner kick swung into the roof of the net.

With no further goals in the match, Vipers advanced 4-2 on aggregate and becomes the first club to reach the quarter finals.

Three more matches of the return legs at the round of 16 will be played on Tuesday, 4th May 2021.

SC Villa hosts Onduparaka at the Army Military Stadium in Bombo during the live game on Television.

Tooro United will play Wakiso Giants at the Buhinga Stadium in Fort Portal and URA takes on Express at the Arena of Vision.
